Adirondack Chocolates began in 1977 with the simple idea of creating handmade premium chocolates with the finest ingredients. For 39 years they have remained the preferred choice for chocolate lovers throughout the Adirondacks and beyond. What began as a simple, old time chocolate shop has blossomed into two retail locations, Wilmington, NY and Lake Placid, NY.
In 1995, Cortland Forrence took over the chocolate shop with the idea of retaining the charm and quality Adirondack Chocolates was known for. Still using the original recipes and hand-crafted quality, Cortland grew Adirondack Chocolates and opened the Lake Placid store in 1997. The move to Wilmington from the original Jay location came in 2002 out of a need for more space. The "Chocolate Factory" is in the Wilmington location with a small staff of dedicated chocolate makers. The artisanal approach of handcrafting small batches guarantees the fine quality and freshness Adirondack Chocolate customers expect in every delicious bite. Walking back into these shops is a step back in time, where life was simpler and joy could be found in a small bag of chocolates.
